The swap needs a reason

A recipe can survive a missing ingredient. It cannot survive every replacement being treated as equivalent.

It cannot survive every replacement being treated as equivalent.

Süschef keeps a fidelity-to-freestyle dial beside credited recipes. The useful output is more than a replacement ingredient: it includes the change in method that makes the substitution work.

The choice

Keep the cook's credit and put the explanation beside the swap. The alternative this design avoids is an anonymous rewritten recipe that hides where it began and what changed.

The constraint

The shelf is uncertain. A photograph needs review, prices are estimates, and an expiry date is only as good as its input. The person can type the shelf without an account; model-assisted photo reading has a separate consent and access boundary.

What this teaches

A dial is useful when its consequences are legible. Compare a strict match with a looser one, read the substitution, and check the missing ingredients before shopping. The retailer links are searches, not a completed basket or a live price guarantee.

This is a studio build account. It does not claim measured food savings or a live connection to pacioli.
