very human: press the object, it plays the record

A painted sneaker floats in a black room. Press it and the page finds the song, fetches a preview and plays it, and the player comes out of the shoe rather than sliding in from the edge of the screen.

A painted sneaker floats in a black room. Press it and the page finds the song, fetches a preview and plays it, and the player comes out of the shoe rather than sliding in from the edge of the screen. That is the whole piece: one object, one press, one record.

Here the object is the moment, and the song lives inside it, waiting for a hand.

The record is "6000 Reasons" by Drapht & KNOE. Everything around the shoe stays still on purpose (one slow float, a thin starfield), so the only thing that moves when you act is the thing you reached for.

the emergence

The card is stamped out from the object's own position on the screen, so the object reads as the source of the sound. It is eyecüe's riso card: an ink field, a paper border, an offset shadow with no blur. The music layer is lifted from eyecüe rather than rebuilt, from the iTunes match scoring to the iOS audio unlock and the waveform scrubber. What plays is Apple's thirty-second preview; "hear it in full" goes on to the whole track.

ObjectThe object on its own, the same model the room loads. Turn it with a finger: 1.8 MB, Draco geometry, WebP textures.

why a press

eyecüe points a camera at a moment and gets the song. very human runs the other way. Here the object is the moment, and the song lives inside it, waiting for a hand. It is the smallest version of a spatial trigger, a thing in space that does something when you reach for it, and the same pattern åsecond uses to bring a note back when you return to a place.

The next move is off the screen. An AR version that places the object in your room and plays the track on placement already works as a spike. It waits on a clip cleared to ship inside the file, because the preview is Apple's stream, not ours.
